Child with chronic diarrhea, bouts of nausea, has lactose intolerance. What treatment is advisable?

My son is 14 and has chronic diarrhea . I know is lactose intolerant but the diarrhea is pretty much every day. He also has bouts of nausea . About once a month he will wake me out of a dead sleep at night and say he feels like he is going to throw up. I m so frustrated and don t know what to do. Hi,

I would advise him the following in such a situation:
First of all stop milk and milk products.
Also identify other foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
Stop anything that contains preservatives.
Boiled for 20 minutes and cooled water only.
Fresh homemade foods alone.
Send stool for 3 consecutive days for lab and get treated if there is an infection or infestation.
CT scan of abdomen and colonoscopy under the guidance of a Gastroenterologist can help to identify any other causes like tuberculosis or so of intestines and get treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,

My boy is 3 months and 2 weeks old and lactose intolerant. What are the food supplements that can be given to him at this stage. We have already started with Easifud- Rice as per Doctor s advise from last month. His food contains Nusobee (soya) and easifud. He is not being breast-fed as it leads to diarrhea . Pls advise.

I am wondering if I am lactose intolerant. I often have diarrhea, bloating and gas. I went without milk for a few days. The other day I ate two slices of cheese and it gave me problems within an hour. Tonight we had ice cream, and again, within an hour I am cramping and running to the bathroom. Seems like I do, but want to know if there is other ways to know. Does it normally happen that quickly? Could it be something I ate earlier in the day?

I have been having problems with mucus in my stool , it s usually a yellow color and it either comes out in long strands or just lays in the water. My stool is not firm but either loose to not even together, instead it looks like dirt in water. When I am having this problem I have severe stomach cramps , and a lot of gas. Also I have several BMs in the range of a half hour, usually right after I eat or even drink sometimes. I have no known allergies to any foods. What do I do? This has been occurring for about 2 months.

So ive been having diarrhea about 3 to 4 times a day for about 3 weeks now. Ive had diarrhea in the past but never this much for this amount of time and never this bad. So I noticed that I have some blood in my stool and ive been having a lot of gas and cramping lately and my eating habbits have not changed. Ive been sleeping a lot lately as well. I just dont know whats wrong with me. I don t chew gum and I hardly eat things like popcicles or anything thats generally high with corn syrup .

I have diarrhea but only blood and mucus come out . It looks to be about 2 or 3 oz each time. The blood is heavy and falls to the bottom of the toilet bowl. I have severe abdominal pain and cannot hold down water or food. When I take a sip of water about 10-15 min. later the abdominal pain becomes more severe and and I pass a lot of blood. I also have chills and I m dizzy. My ex-husband cancelled my health insurance so I m no longer covered otherwise I d head straight to the E.R. I ve never had hemorrhoids but that seems to be the consensus by family and friends because of the color of the blood. What else could it be? Thank you for your time.
