Posted on Wed, 10 Sep 2014
Question: chronic bad breath when scraping my tongue, brown thick mucus comes from the back of the throat. This happens in the morning and after eating. I have GERD really bad too. Constantly brushing, scraping tonge and rinsing the mouth through out the day and still have a fowl taste in back of mouth. I suffer from allergies, post nasal drip.

Brief Answer:
Get GERD in control.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
See all your problems are related to GERD only. This is the reason for your bad breath. You also might be suffering from dry cough because of that.
I advise following in such conditions:
1. To take a Pantoprazole 40 twice a day.
2. To take Tablet Domperidone 10 mg twice a day. If one is already on that I switch to Levosulpride.
3. To take frequent small meals.
4. To walk after each meal.
5. Say no to smoking and alcohol in case you do.
6. Start Chlorhexidine moth wash for gargles twice a day.
7. To take soft bland diet.
If you have any further query please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
