Brief Answer:
Veins thrombosis should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

This pain can be caused by a muscle strain indeed. However it can be also a sign of veins thrombosis. Especially if the leg was hold in one position during the long time (like 2-3 hours).
Calf pain can be the only sign of veins thrombosis. Your calf can be swollen and hard in case of thrombosis, but not necessarily.
That is why, I suggest you to consult your doctor if that is possible. Physical examination and d-dimers level should be checked.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Though this is not something which happen regularly however I observed this pain when I do long driving.

It pacify on its own after overnight rest however I thought if checking this time since I noticed this in couple of occasions after long driving.

What could be the possible reason of vein thrombosis and how critical it is . I need ro know as I am not regular on long trip however I need to take precaution next time.

I am very much on my exercise routine and does running as well.

My daily run of car in the city is 20 Km XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
This is not thrombosis.

Detailed Answer:
If it disappears after the rest, thrombosis is rather hardly possible. Strained muscle is most probable reason. You may prevent it by relaxing the leg from time to time and improve your position when driving.
Veins thrombosis is very dangerous condition. Blood clot can travel from legs to lungs and in some cases cause death. To prevent it, you should move your calfs and feef from time to time. This makes the blood circulate better.

Yes it disappear after rest .I run for 10 Km for strech and never faced such issue it is only while I myself driving a car on long journey I experinced such pain. I am tall guy. I don't take much breaks during journey.
I have gone through symptoms online. ..now few facts the area where I have this pain is the same allways . There is no sign of swallowness or Redish skin, It goes off with rest and very rare.
I have history of high colestrol and had Angioplasty a year back. post angioplasty there was this rear fistula occurrence was suspected by dr near the place where they insirt needle to perform Angioplasty. I was put on observation and performed CT Scan and Ultrasound of entire Right leg on couple of occasion in a an interval of 3 to 4 days. They could not found Fistula and the mild connection between vein and lung suspected dispared on its own.
I am sure if it is vein thrombosis it should have been dedected during complete body CT scan which wad performed to check possible vein arteries connection or Ultra sound of entire right leg.
I am on regular blood thinner . Maintaining healthy lifestyle stoped smoking, drinking and red meat.
lost wait now maintaing it as per BMI.
I do travel by air 4 days in a month. never experince such pain.
But I experinced quite similar pain 3 to 4 months before my Heart condition in similar area on regular interval
I hope my history would help to address the issue.
now since I an writing to you by this time my pain is already melod down.

Brief Answer:
Pulled muscle seems to be the most probable reason.

Detailed Answer:
As you have had heart arteries issues, you may expect that legs arteries can be in similar condition. But veins thrombosis has nothing to do with arteries, just with veins. As you do take blood thinner, this makes veins thrombosis even less possible. However as there was some sort of connection between the artery and vein in this leg, blood may not flow smoothly. This is kind of risk factor of veins thrombosis.
And veins thrombosis may appear recently, so it could not be seen in the CT.

But considering all the facts, still pulled muscle seems to be the most probable reason. As you are tall, your driving position might be not comfortable. Please try to move back the front seat a little. Maybe this will help.
