Brief Answer:
Get an X-ray of the cervical spine done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Burning pain in neck area is more likely to be due to a nerve root compression at the cervical vertebral level due to degenerative disc changes or cervical spondylosis. It happens primarily due to degenerative changes secondary to age in the cervical spine.
An X-ray of the cervical spine and few blood investigations will help in proper diagnosis.

Till you get this done I would suggest you some thing which I recommend to my patients.

1. Avoid using very high pillow. Also do not keep neck in same position for long time like watching tv or laptop.
2. Medical drugs like pain killers - acetaminophen/ibuprofen and muscle relaxants might be helpful.
3. Soft cervical collar
4. Neck muscle physiotherapy and traction.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care

I suspected cervical spondylosis was my problem. If this is the problem after xrays can it be operated on to correct my spine and appearance. If this is possible what approx. would the cost be.

Brief Answer:
It can be operated to correct the deformity.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Hunch appearance could be due to osteoporotic collapse of the vertebra. It can be operated to correct the deformity if required. Approx cost in XXXXXXX is 1.5-2 lac rupees.

Warm regards.
