What Causes Breathing Difficulty While Stopping Prednisolone Intake?
Question: I was on prednisolone. 1 & 1/2 tablets daily for 5 days for pneumonia then I developed asthma. When going off the prednisolone I find it hard to breathe & wheezing worsens

Well looking into your problem steroids cannot be stopped at once they need to be tapered slowly according to the need of the patient . Sudden stopping may lead to worsening of symptoms so it will be better if you discuss this with your treating doctor as asthmatic patients generally require it for prolonged periods .PLus other drugs like montelukast etc. need to be added or not .
