Question: I just had a bowel movement and noticed bright red blood in my stool. Just wondering if I need to be seen tonight or if I can wait until tomorrow.

A case of bleeding with stool has many reasons like piles, fissure, gastrointestinal infection, varices and many more. You have provided a very short history. It would be better if you could tell me how many times have you had bleeding, the consistency of stool, whether any pain associated, whether you had such episode earlier etc. The diagnosis can be made then. Anyways if the bleeding is not much, you can wait for a day before going to doctor but get checked definitely. And if the bleeding is alarming or you have a similar episode again, better to go to the ER.
