What Causes Appetite Loss And Weight Loss After Tapering Of Anti-epileptic Drugs?

default
Posted on Sat, 17 May 2014
Question: I have recently changed my dosage of tablets for mild epilepsy hoping to eventually stop taking them. However I no longer have a normal appetite and I have dropped a stone in a few months. I don't over exercise but I love food and this isn't normal. Is it safe to take this syrup or not?

Brief Answer:
May not be related to anti-epileptic drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and am glad to note that you are seizure free for more than three years.

Loss of appetite and loss of weight seem to be unrelated to the tapering of anti-epileptic drugs.

I feel you should go through a detailed general physical examination and evaluation by a GP to determine the cause of your symptoms.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
