What Causes Anxiety Related Symptoms Inspite Of Being On Adderall?
Question: When I Take my 60 mg of adderal I develop anxiety related tics such as clearing my throat, grinding my teeth, blinking my eyes, and random muscle movements.They automatically stop once the adderal has completely left my body. I was wondering if there are any drugs to take help make that reaction more manageable when I am taking adderal

It is a common side effect (tics) while one is on treatment of adhd. The guidelines say that we treat what is mor e important in an individual.
If adhd is more of a concern then we need to continue its medicine along with tics drugs ...but if we can stop adderal for sometime- and treat only tics- this is another option.
There are few drugs which can handle this-
1. Clonidine- can mange both tics and adhd together. Side effect : may causes sedation, lethargy and dizziness...so dosage is individualised.
2. Haloperidol- an anti psychotic drug, good for managing tics but can cause increased salivation and EPS and may disturb periods- so not very desirable in your case.
3.pimozide- you check its availability in your country. Its good for tics.
You would definitely need something to manage tics. Decide the treatment from above mentioned choices after discussing with your doctor.

I have been taking adderal since 5th grade and i am now 21. I hadn't had this problem with these tics and anxiety issues from taking the adderal until the past 2-3 years. Being in college I've had to increase my dosage. 60 mg is the lowest amount that allows me to be productive with my day to function normally, go to class, and focus on my school work at all times. What is your opinion on taking welbutrin with adderal. Ive heard mixed feelings, but I was a little nervous to start it. i am thinking that maybe taking welbutrin will help with the depression and lack of motivation. If i had more motivation and excitement, maybe I could lower my adderal to 50 or 40 so that way I could be on a dose that will not cause these tics and anxiety that 60 mg does. My doctor also said to try out lorazapam 1 miligram when you feel like your hearts racing and your minds just all over the place. It definitely does help minimize the effects I get from adderal especially when its wearing off. I don't know if that's the recommended way to go though.

1. Taking lorazepam on SOS basis is ok..there are no issues with it. But try to avoid taking it daily- else tolerance might develop.
2. As mentioned in the other thread, wellbutrin is good for manging anxiety but has seizure concerns which increase significantly when given alongwith adderal. Moreover, reading and understanding your current situation , I think you will need something between 300-450mg of wellbutrin to manage your anxiety and depression. At this dose the seizure potential increases significantly.
3. You may try taking clonidine alongwith adderal ( reduce it to a lower dosage to decrease tics as well) for managing adhd and take venalafaxine or sertraline for depression.
Please dicuss these options with your team of doctors.
P.S. Get your Vit b 12 levels, TSH checked.
