What Causes Abnormal Uterine Bleeding During Perimenopause?

default
Posted on Thu, 29 Sep 2016
Question: I thought I was done with my cycle after not having my menstruation for at least four or more months. It's back since July, August and now September . August I've had like two in the same month with it not being as heavy as it used to be all of my life.I am 53yrs of age and was told I have fibroids that should go away on their own. Every time I have my mammogram the doctor makes sure to look and see if it grew.it stays the same with no change. I started around the 17th of July and the 17th of August with it lasting aboutf seven days during August then coming back about two days later with spotting first few days and some flow not heavy, then more spotting . I'm continually noticing spotting on into first part of September as opposed to the "17th".

Brief Answer:
Hormonal changes likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Irregular bleeding and spotting at the perimenopausal period can be due to hormonal disturbances, local lesions in the cervix or vagina or due to fibroids.
Hormonal changes in the perimenopausal period are the commonest cause of such spotting and bleeding.
I will suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined internally to rule out any other lesions, get a pap smear and ultrasound done and get appropriate treatment timely.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
