What Causes A Rash Under The Armpit?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: I am a 61 year old female, active lifestyle, workout everyday, and typically run errands right after I workout. I have noticed a rash under my left arm, and again in the fold area right above my pubic hair and in the fold between my left thigh and genital area. I think this is a type of yeast infection. How should I treat it?

Brief Answer:
Either intertrigo or yeast infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
According to your complaints it could be either yeast infection or intertrigo which is inflammation of the body folds due to friction and moisture.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical antifungal like clotrimazole cream on the affected areas twice daily for 2 weeks.
Besides this take tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime to relieve itching and irritation.
Also wear loose cotton clothes, avoid strenuous activity and stay in cool environment.
