What Causes A Lump On The Right Backside Of The Scalp With Headache?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: I have a tender bump on the right backside of my scalp where a throbbing headache shoots from now and again, been going on for about 10 days. I also feel a bit fatigued. Slight headache around right temple as well. I feel the throb shoots towards my ear, and my jaw,not my eyes. I also have had small pupils which concerns me. Not really nauseas but kinda, but maybe because I'm a little freaked out.

Brief Answer:
send me photograph of lump

Detailed Answer:
Welcome at HCM
I am Dr Saad Sultan and will be answering your query.
I have read and understood your health concerns..

Do you have diabetes or hypertension?
Kindly send me the picture of lump so that it can be better correlated. It may be a abscess, infected cyst. Just stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve pain.
As far as small pupils are concerned, if they are on both sides and small then it may be due to light. In light pupils get small.
If you are really concerned , then it needs clinical evaluation. Meet your physician for it.
Hope it helps
Feel free to ask me further queries.

It appear to be hair follicle infection .
All you need is to stay calm And use antibiotics along with pain killers.
If I am your physician , then Augmentin 625mg two times daily for three days would be my choice.. Add painkillers like acetaminophen to relieve pain.
Hope it helps

Brief Answer:
needs to be examined by surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back to HCM
I really appreciate your follow up.
I have seen the photograph, it appear swelling in parotid region. But it has to be examined clinically by the surgeon for its consistency. , mobolitity and status of facial nerve. If its enlarged parotid gland then it needs further investigations like MRI.
It could be a simple lipoma too.
No need to panic , just meet your surgeon for a detailed physical evaluation.

Feel free to write me by name on HCM in future.
