Brief Answer:
It may be anemia, food debris or fungi

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

There can be many causes for white discoloration of tongue. From your description it seems like iron deficiency anemia, food debris or fungi roots.

I personally think that it may be a combination of all three. Mostly once the fungi grow somewhere, they are never eradicated. Atleast they will leave their roots there and will grow back when the conditions are right. Your postnasal drip may be because of the infection.

It is a very common condition and is not to be worried about. Though it may not clear off completely, it does not create many problems. In fact it is just considered altered normal flora.

I will suggest that you get your hemoglobin checked along with fasting blood sugar, complete blood count, HIV test to rule out causes of immunodeficiency. I will also suggest that you take hygienic food and clean drinking water (with low ppm). Exercise for atleast 20 min a day.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
