Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, I'm 33 years old, I had sex with my boyfriend by the end of April, other times was May 2nd, 7th, and 19th. I had my period on the 6-7 th of May but it was very light, and lasted 2 days only. My regular period usually lasts around 4 days. A week after my period, I found out that i had some spottings, it was pink at first, then turned brown later (I have never spotted before). A few days after, my tummy, and lower back hurt a lot. I get tired easily, so dizzy and can't focus on anything. And I don't have my appetite, I don't like the food that I love to eat anymore. Sometimes during the day, my heart beats really fast. I know all those symptoms can be mistaken with having menstrual, but I have never had it before. I feel lm not myself anymore I tried pregnancy test (May 23rd and 26th) but those was negative. I went to see a doctor, got a urine test again yesterday(June2nd), still negative. I still don't have my period yet. And the symptoms are still here, not worst but I feel it. And now one of my breasts starts to have some kind of clear, light yellow discharge come out, very little but its really weird to me. Please let's me know what going on with me, the feeling of not knowing this is killing me. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
test likely accurate

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The symptoms can be related to pregnancy. They can also occur in some women as part of their menstrual cycle.

Pregnancy tests , both the blood tests and the urine tests, look for the HCG hormone. This hormone is released in pregnancy and its levels increase as pregnancy progresses.
Normally most urine pregnancy tests can pick it up by day 11 to 14 of pregnancy though this may vary slightly. If you were last intimate on the 19th of May and the last test was on the 2nd of XXXXXXX 14 days after, then it is likely accurate.

If you want to make sure, you can repeat a test in 1 to 3 days, by this time if HCG is being released, it would be picked up.

If this test is also negative then the symptoms are likely menstrual symptoms.

In term of your allergy medications, benadryl is thought to be safe in pregnancy, you can use this to help with your allergy symptoms.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
