Question: I have given my 6 month old 5ml of piriton instead of 2.5ml. Last weighted 3/4 weeks ago 15lb. She also had nurofen at the same time for teething. Given at 5.30 but woke up at 7 and played from a while before going back to sleep. Should I wake her through the night?

As medications go by different names, I looked up Piriton and Nurofen and see that these are chlorpheneramine (an antihistamine) and ibuprofen (an NSAID pain reliever).

If she is sleeping, there is no need to wake her for another dose. These medications can be given as needed, so see how she is doing in the morning, and only give the ibuprofen if she needs it tomorrow. The chlorpheneramine only needs to be given during waking hours too (and may help her sleep as it is sedating).
