I have given my 6 month old 5ml of piriton instead of 2.5ml. Last weighted 3/4 weeks ago 15lb. She also had nurofen at the same time for teething. Given at 5.30 but woke up at 7 and played from a while before going back to sleep. Should I wake her through the night?

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
No need to wake her.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Abbi,

As medications go by different names, I looked up Piriton and Nurofen and see that these are chlorpheneramine (an antihistamine) and ibuprofen (an NSAID pain reliever).

If she is sleeping, there is no need to wake her for another...

My son has a sore throat, but it is low, near his oesophagus. It is hurting him to swallow or yawn, and he says it feels a bit clogged. We are unable to get a Locom Dr as they are all busy. It is 430am and our local Dr doesn't open until 830am. We have given nurofen. We are unsure what may be wrong as it seems very low for a sore throat? Your advice is appreciated.

Hey Dr,

I am currently on a Nexium prescription which I have been on for 5 days now but the last two days I have had this really bad headache maybe even a migrane. Everytime I turn my head down there is an extreme concentrated amount of pain and I can feel it at the back of my head and neck. Would this be a possible side effect of Nexium or something else? I have had a lot of water as well and I don't feel dehydrated so I am not sure what else it could be. I have also been on Nexium before and have never experienced headache like this before. Should I just have a nurefoen to help the pain or is it something worse that I should get seen about? Thanks in advance!

Regards, XXXXXXX

my baby is 17 months old, she has been constipated on off for 2 months, drs have prescribed mild laxitive to be added to her drinks 3 times day. She continues to pass stool after 5 days, very hard foul smell and very painful for her. She has continuous high temperature off and on for 10 days, she is currently being treated for an upper respiratory viral infection with infected tonsils. She has been on fluids for last 3 days (as she cannot eat cos of her sore throat) and has not passed any stool nor diarrhoea considering she has started a course of amoxycillin today, we control the fever with calpol (paracetamol) and nurofen.
Could constipation have anything to do with the high fever she has been having for the pass 10 days?
