This is called passive smoking. But usually what science says is that smoking outside should be of less concern. But whatever it is, even though the smoke doesn't affect directly, the kid's small brain might register seeing his father smoking and he might not find it bad when he comes of age to smoke. This is long term...but the other way is direct effect now.

Any kind of smoke - either cigarette or marijuana is known to cause asthma/ bronchitis in kids earlier than adults. Kids with adults who smoke at home are more prone for this.

Passive smoke from marijuana has many of the same chemicals as
smoke from tobacco, including those linked to lung cancer. While more
studies are needed, smoke from marijuana may increase the
risk of lung cancer in the smoker. Also, smoke from marijuana can cause lung irritation, asthma attacks, and make respiratory infections more likely.

If you have children or non-users in your family or home, it is important to
practice safer smoking behaviours, like not smoking indoors or in your car.
