What Are The Diagnostic Tests For HIV?
Question: Hi, yesterday i had sex with a prostitute. during which i found my condom was lost. I believe I had three to four strokes before i realised i dont have condom. I havent released by then.. what are the chances that I get HIV.. any immediate test available.. I am not sure about the IV status of te lady.But she looks ale and healthy I am restless

I can understand your concern. There is every chance that your sex partner was HIV free. All the sex workers knew the importance of their health and the roll of condom for their safety. So you need not worry much.
Regarding the risk of slip of condom, the duration or not being ejaculated have nothing to do with. If she is HIV positive and if her viral load was high, then a contact for a fraction of second could be infectious. At the same time there are individuals (30-40%) who remain negative for years of regular contact with their positive spouse. (sero-discordant couple).
P24 antigen test and DNA PCR test for HIV can detect the infection as early as a weeks time,but more conclusive by 4 weeks.
