What Are The Chances Of HIV,HBV And HCV Transmission Through Wound From Electrical Wire?

Question: Roadside construction work going on in my locality. I went for the morning walk and a string from clutch wire(use in auto moblies)
struck the finger in my leg(Prick injury). It was not that deep but a single drop of blood came out and after 30 sec it was fine.I just felt a pinch.
The wire looked very dusty half of the wire was under dust and half outside. I checked the string that struck
and didnt saw any rust or blood on it. I looks like it was there from last night. Should i be worried about any infection
(HIV/HBV/HCV)

Brief Answer:
Just tetvac needed intramuscular.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM
I understand your concern and situation.

No you must not worry about infections like HIV, HBV, HCV. These infections are not spread in the manner you described. The viruses do not survive outside body for long duration. You need nothing but only reassurance. There have been no case reported in medical literature like the one you described. If you have taken tetvac injection in last 5 years then nothing required if you have not taken take one tetanus shot.

Brief Answer:
Allay your fear and anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Well, I think you do not need to worry about it so much. But if you will get mental satisfaction by tests then you can take an HIV PCR test after 6 weeks or HIV 4 th generation ELISA test after 12 weeks. HBV and HCV tests you can get ELISA test after 6 months. I assure you, there is no way you can contract infections like HIV/HBV/HCV through this method. Lay back and relax.

Best of health
