Question: I am on 25mg of Valdoxan at night for sleep/anxiety, after an Alcoholic Hangover of 15 drinks, 5 nights ago, I have anxiety all day, broken sleep, was taking 5mg Valium when it got bad, and to sleep after I woke up, I am wondering to get my sleep back can I take rivotril .05mg without it effecting the Valdoxan? Will I be able to work the next day at an office job? How far apart should I take them? Or my other option is to increase the Valdoxan dose instead from 25 to 40 or 50mg?

Brief Answer:
Rivotril will help to reduce the anxiety and restlessness

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Valdoxan is Agomelatine and the drug is usually advised in 25-50 mg doses to patients. The drug is a melatonin drug and the drug can help to sleep and regulate melatonin concentration in brain. The drug cant help much in anxiety and restlessness. Diazepam is benzodiazepine and can help to relieve anxiety and sleep.

Rivotril is Clonazepam and in 0.5 mg doses it can help in sleeping and will reduce anxiety. The drug would not affect Valdoxan so no need to worry. As per my opinion 0.5 mg doses are not high doses so you will be able to work normally next day, except lightheadedness may occur. There is no particular guideline for timing, and you can take the drugs simultaneously also.

As per my opinion your main problem is anxiety, sleeplessness after prolonged hangover and after heavy alcohol intake, so increasing the doses of Valdoxan would not result much benefit. So no need to increase the dose as of now. Discuss with your psychiatrist before making any change in your prescription.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Please ask again for more doubts.
