Brief Answer:
elevated creatinine suggests deranged kidney function

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
Blood creatinine level signifies the gross kidney function of the patient. If it is elevated, it denotes somewhat deranged kidney function.
Hypertension and diabetes are the prime causes of elevated creatinine. Some other causes like dehydration, muscle injury etc can cause similar reports. Since you have diabetes, creatinine level might be somewhat elevated.

Hope this was useful.
Kindly send me your reports so that i can tell you further.
You should see your doctor for diabetes control.

Wish you good health.
Regards.

Dr. Dattagupta, Thanks so much for your quick response to my query. This all started last week when I passed a kidney stone. The stone was fairly large, but I passed it straight through in my urination. Also before I passed the stone, I had visible blood in my urine for a day or two, then it totally cleared up. Sometimes this happens when I take aspirin of Ibuprofin for some kind of (after 60) muscular pain, working around the house.

Brief Answer:
might be due to kidney stone; also diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Passing stone with urine with prior hematuria may be responsible for your increase in creatinine level. Because there was possible kidney injury. But you are diabetic also, hence it has to be ruled out too.
I would suggest you to repeat blood urea and creatinine after 1month. A consultation with your doctor is also advised.

Wish you good health.
