Question: Hey this is so embarrassing, but I have a hard dark bump on my right buttocks that feels like a blister. Any ideas what it mite be? I tried popping it but it was too painful.

Brief Answer:
may be early abscess

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it is an early abscess.

An abscess is a collection of pus. It can occur in any part of the body but is commonly found on the buttocks.

It starts off as a firm lump then softens as the discharge inside forms.
They are usually painful.

It can take a few days for the pus to form and the lump to soften.

The use of magnesium sulphate cream may help it to soften. It is most commonly used to help to draw out the discharge out of lesions like these.

It is available over the counter.

In addition the use of anti inflammatory pain killers such as naproxen or ibuprofen would help to reduce the pain.

An abscess may recur if it is not incised and drained by a doctor though this can only be done after it has softened (when discharge formed).

Antibiotics may also be needed.

Summary: (1) may be an early abscess but this can be confirmed by physical examination by your doctor
(2) anti inflammatory pain medication would help relieve your discomfort
(3)magnesium sulphate cream helps to draw out discharge
(4)may need to be incised and drained, antibiotics may be needed

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
