Question: I have taken Percocet 7 1/2 for 3 years. 5 a day. My dr gave me the butrans patch 15. Weaned myself off of the Percocet and took my last patch off 72 hours ago. I am miserable. What should I expect as I go forward and am I in any danger health wise?

Brief Answer:
No danger, just withdrawal symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXXXXX,

I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
You are not in any danger either with or without patch. If you are having pain you need to continue patch.
You have not mentioned why was it removed and changed for.
Please also mention your symptoms after removal of patch, though it is very common to feel irritable, restless, watery eye and salivation and muscle aches .
If you have these withdrawal symptoms they might fade away in a few days time.
If does not then you need to contact your doctor, as these are all prescription drugs and you need a doctor for the same.
Hope you have answer to your query, if any thing else you are welcome.
Good luck.

I do not want to be dependent on an addictive substance any longer. The medical community has made it too difficult and I feel judgement even from the pharmacy. I am on my 4th day and have the following:
Headache
Restlessness
Anxiety
Pain
General malaise
Sneezing
Watery eyes
Severe fatigue
I had pneumonia in both lungs and was hospitalized 6 weeks ago so am hoping that is not a contributing factor.
I am shocked at how serious I feel as my dr in XXXXXXX made it sound like Butrans was easy to stop. I am in Nevada for the winter and do not yet have a dr here. I am sure if I go to a GP they will do nothing and tell me to see a pain specialist which could take a while. Frustrating!
