Suggest Treatment For Wet Coughs In A Child
Question: My kid is suffering with cough. He is 4 yrs old. It began as dry cough from 2nd Sept...we gave him home remedies like ginger-honey syrup, tulsi-honey syrup. It has now developed into cough with phlegm.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Don't worry. The most likely reason for these symptoms in your kid is a self limiting viral illness or an allergic episode. Since its not associated with fever episodes, so bacterial infection requiring antibiotics is unlikely.
I would recommend the following to help him out:
1. Start him on antihistamine such as Syp. Maxtra or T minic. This will give symptomatic relief.
2. In case the cough is associated with any wheeze or excess phlegm, then also start Syp. Terbutaline or Levolin for relieving airway spasms.
3. Give him regular warm feeds and plenty of fluids to keep him well hydrated. Warm soups, milk and salted water is good.
4. You may keep a room humidifier while sleeping if the weather is dry.
