Suggest Treatment For Vomiting With Weakness And Loss Of Appetite

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Jun 2016
Question: Last Friday night I vomited for the first time in several years. I also had an achy body. Since then (today is Tuesday) I have been very weak, no fever, no more vomiting or aching. However, I can' t seem to recuperate my strength and have very little appetite, but I am forcing myself to eat to regain my strength. What do you recommend?

Here are my recommendations sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The thing with vomiting or diarrhoea is that the body looses more fluids than it should, resulting in dehydration along with the loss of electrolytes which presents with generalised weakness, lethargy, loss of appetite, etc.

In such a scenario I would recommend the following:

+Drink plenty of water (at least 3 litres a day)
+Oral rehydration solution (ORS): Available in the form of XXXXXXX or readymade drinks (tetra packs), try and consume at least a litre each day. This will replenish the lost electrolytes which can be the main reason why you are experiencing exhaustion and a loss in appetite
+Avoid fried/spicy/fatty/oily/spicy food
+Stick to a bland liquid or semi-solid diet
+Avoid eating from outside
+Have only fresh food
+You can also choose to take 1 tablet of either ranitidine or omeprazole 15 minutes before each meal which will help reduce any gas and/or abdominal bloating and acidity

I hope this helps clear your doubts and you find it helpful. If you have any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
