Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) can linger on for months when untreated, but will eventually subside.

2. There is a set of exercises known as the Brandt-Daroff and Semont's exercises/maneuvers which can be easily done at home to speed up the recovery.

3. Your vertigo specialist can also perform an Epley's maneuver. A device known as a DizzyFix can be used here.

4. Recovery from BPPV is excellent with these exercises, even without medication.

5. Get your eyesight checked to see if the problem while reading is increased due to Presbyacusis (normal deterioration of near vision as per age).

I hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Nothing spins though... I just feelike I am moving when I am still...especially sitting down. I am nearsighted... And my right eyes goes in when I am reading with contacts or focusing in in something... Can this be something bad?

Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. The spinning vertigo of BPPV becomes an unsteadiness after many week and months.

2. Get your eyesight checked by an eye specialist. The extra effort in trying to focus causes your right eye to turn in more than the other. This should be correctable with suitable lenses.

I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Presbyacusis? Isn't that the ear? Not the eyes? Are you an ent?

Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Yes, that Presbyopia (normal deterioration of near vision as per age).

2. Presbyacusis was an auto-correct text entry from my XXXXXXX phone. Its a term used much more often in ENT.

I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
