Suggest Treatment For Umbilical Hernia

Question: Hi, I'm a 60-yr old male. I have (1) an umbilical hernia requiring surgical repair. I also have (2) numbness and tingling in my feet and legs, due to Disc Displacement Lumbar
Spinal Stenosis, L3-L4-L5-S1; and (3) radiculopathy in my right and left lower extremeties, probably requiring surgery. My dilemma: which surgery (back or umbilical hernia) should be done first? If I have umbilical hernia surgery first, won't I need a strong lumbar spine to recover? But, if I have a spinal procedure first, won't I need a non-herniated umbilical area to recover? Sort of a chicken or egg dilemma...please offer advice. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Advised to get the umbilical hernia repair first.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

To my opinion, I think you should be discussing with general surgeon to repair the umbilical hernia first.

Then, you should schedule appointment with neuro - surgeon for spinal surgery.

You must have strong abdominal wall to recover from spinal surgery.

Hope it was of help!
