Question: If someone has a long-standing umbilical, incisional hernia, would there ever be any value in getting a colonoscopy or gastric endoscopy to assess whether the hernia might have created other gastrointestinal problems?

Brief Answer:
Endoscopy not required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Sir

In the absence of any upper or lower gastrointestinal symptoms Endoscopy or Colonoscopy is not needed. Long standing umbilical hernia requires surgical repair.

The only risk of hernia is complications arising out of irreducibility and obstruction. It is unlikely to cause any gastrointestinal problem which should require endoscopy examination.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care.
