Yes, this might be an umbilical hernia indeed. Mostly hernia in this location is painless. You may notice protruding lump while coughing.

I suggest you have an ultrasound of this area. It will diagnose it for sure.

A painless hernia might be left alone. However, it may become larger after some time. So surgery seems the only option in that case.
