Brief Answer:
how long ago did you undergo surgery...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is not clear how long ago did you undergo the two surgery. Usually post appendicetomy and umbilical hernia repair recovery happens in 3-4 weeks. However some amount of abdominal discomfort might last for a month or two. You might feel some difficulty .especially when coughing or sneezing. It could be possible you are holding breath while coughing / sneezing due to this abdominal discomfort / difficulty.
That being said without an examination I wouldn't be able to predict the exact cause / status.

If the surgery was recent say not more than month ago, may be you could wait for some more weeks in a hope it gets better.

Hope this is clear. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Brief Answer:
May be wait it out for a month and see...

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I cannot relate this feeling to any serious organic medical concern. Neither do I feel any relation to the surgeries. Usually after abdominal procedures any form of immediate complications are checked and ruled out.

Therefore as I mentioned earlier, try and see if you get better in the next month. Incase you don't or if you feel symptoms worsening, please get it checked by your surgeon.

Hope this answers your question.

I am 56 years of age and had an inguinal hernia repair in December of 2009 since then I find it difficult to maintain and erection when making love and also, my ejaculate is very thin and watery. Is this a sign of infertility and also, from the hernia operation?

My left side is very painful, it's under my ribs and into my back, it hurts to sit and drive my car or lie down, my dr did a CT scan and it came back okay, no kidney stones, I was hurting more internally but now the pain is hurting on the outside and very painful to touch or even bump up against something, I had a UTI but that is now cleared up. My Dr is not sure what it could be, I would like to see a specialist to see if they can help but I'm not sure what type to go to? Pain Managment, GI? I've had some heartburn along with this and at times feel nauseus, this is very painful and I'm unsure what to do at this point, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I wasn't sure if it could be my colon, or a hyatel hernia, possible even gallbladder, the urgency care did an xray of my lungs and didn't see any fractured ribs, and the only thing they found on the CT scan was that I had an umbilical hernia that I need to get taken of but that is not where my pain is located.

How long after an umbilical hernia tear does the bulge appear? I just noticed this bump yesterday and today it is a bit more sore. Could it be like a cut that you have then only after you notice it starts to hurt? I am pretty sure I got the hernia from abs crunches in the gym last week.
