Brief Answer:
"Aphthous ulcer" or Aphthous stomatitis: various suggestions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the ulcer under the upper lip. .

After analyzing the picture with best diligence I can make out that you have the condition of "aphthous ulcer" or Aphthous stomatitis.

To tell you simply regarding this condition: It is a small, round, or ovoid ulcer with circumscribed margins. It has a red halo and yellow or gray floors. The most typical feature is its pain and the discomfort.

You might be wondering that why it occurred!!! Till now we have not been able to get the exact cause of this condition but various causes such as nutritional deficiencies, local trauma, stress, hormonal influences are implicated to be an important cause.

Once occurred it remains for minimum of 7 days to upto 14 days. There is no set treatment for the same and the main aim is reduction of pain.

The gel which you have is quite fine as it contains bit antibacterial ingredient along with lignocaine. This lignocaine helps us out in reduction of pain. You can apply the gel basically before taking food. It is better to apply almost 5 minutes before food. Do not eat anything spicy or hot. Try to eat bit cold food and ice creams are quite soothing.

Drink plenty of water and improve your green vegetable content. Avoid constipation to prevent recurrence of the condition.
