Question: I have varicose veins, at one time i had an injury to the veins on my right thigh, then developed phleibitis. Yesterday I had a tender spot on my left thigh at the varicose vein, today the tenderness has moved further up the thigh about 3 inches, just this evening it has very pale pink color and is tender to touch.

Brief Answer:
superficial phlebitis

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having concerns of phlebitis of your leg. This sounds like it is only a superficial vein that is affected and is not dangerous for DVT or blood clots to your lungs. These happen frequently to superficial varicose veins and is not dangerous. We usually recommend applying heat and taking aspirin. This will resolve on its own.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
