After workouts, tachycardia is common. What is the heart rate you are talking about - less than 150 during and after workout is normal.
Thanks.

I'm 52, do 3 high intensity 25min strength workouts weekly, and 2-3 HIIT cardio workouts on alternate days (for 3 yrs now). 230lbs, 20% bodyfat. I reach 160-170bpm during workout intervals, and rate drops about 30bpm after 1min rest. However, rate stays at 120+ for an hour or two, 100+ for several hours. Im thinking it should recover more quickly. Resting heart rate 60-70 upon rising in the AM. Runs 90 during the day+

Brief Answer:
Not worrisome, normal after such intense workout..

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

It is normal to have increased heart rate after working out with high intensity (up to several hours after).

This is due to the effect of adrenalin excreted in high amounts during the heavy workouts you do. It's a well known fact that to much adrenaline in blood will be manifested with tachycardia.

Thus, its effect will last hours after the workout .

That is not worrisome.
