Suggest Treatment For Swollen Toe And Ankles

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: I am just following up on the question I asked about a swollen toe. I mentioned that today my ankle seems somewhat swollen. The toe is where the pain is concentrated, so way is my ankle swollen. I am wondering if I have some sort of infection that might be spreading elsewhere. Thanks for the follow up. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Infection can be there.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
If along with pain and swelling there is tenderness on touching and redness is present or the area is warm to touch then chances of infection are present. A hematoma can also turn into an abscess.
The swelling in the ankle can also appear if you are standing for a long time. An infection needs to be ruled out after a direct examination. Do consult your primary physician for an examination and proper referrals.
I hope this answers your query.
