Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Chest And Upper Arms

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Jan 2017
Question: I have had swollen lymph nodes in my chest and upper arms for several months. Started around June/July of this year, lasted a few weeks and went away. Then it's recently returned worse than before. I had blood work done around August and no abnormalities, all within normal ranges. Nodes are not only tender but "hurt". some with sharp pains that come and go. I have tried very hard not to touch them so I don't think I've aggravated them by "poking and prodding". Nodes affected are on the inside of my bicep, under my arm and close to my nipples on both sides. Also in my back just below my shoulder blade.

I have also had a dry cough which is non-productive. I feel flush at times but can't say that I've run a fever. For the last few nights I have also woken up sick at my stomach. I haven't vomited but just feel nauseated.

I'm not sure that it's related, but I've also have tremendous pain in my feet after standing or walking for any length of time.

Brief Answer:
need biopsy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Enlarged lymph nodes like this that are persistent need to be diagnosed. It is good that lab work is okay but you need a chest xray, then possibly a CT of the chest. A lymph node biopsy is also indicated.
It may be just some inflammation or infection but you need to have a full work up to make sure that it is nothing more serious like cancer.
Please see your doctor for further evaluation as soon as possible.
