Suggest Treatment For Swollen Face And Pain In Cheeks

Question: I had a dental implant put in on 12/27/16. I was fine for a few days. I woke up on 1/2/17 with a swollen face, I could not move my jaw, and had pain in my cheek. On 1/3/17, I woke up with more swelling and pain. I went to the dentist, they took X-rays and said everything looked good with the implant. Later that afternoon, the pain was just under my eye, and had also started under my jaw line. This is only happening on the right side of my face, which is where the implant is. The pain got so bad, I was brought to tears. The pain subsided over night, I felt ok this morning, but the pain has gotten bad again. Should I go to the ER?

Brief Answer:
post inflammatory swelling or infection, medication

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.

As far as the swelling on the face is concerned, I have the following possibilities-

It can be a normal inflammatory response secondary to implant placement. The other possible can be secondary to the infection at the implant site. Nothing to be panic, consult an oral physician and get it evaluated. Mean while you can take a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and Metronidazole combination (if you are not allergic, please obtain the necessary prescription from your doctor). Do XXXXXXX warm saline gargling.

I hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries reply me back.
Take care.
