Question: My boyfriend was stung by a bee on Sunday 4/9/2017. He was stung on the right temple area. He got the stinger out. He woke up Monday morning to a puffy right eye. I had him take some Benadryl. The next day he had a bag under his eye. His swelling is getting worse. What should we do?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Could be due to allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Bee stings are generally harmless, The majority of symptoms come from an allergic reaction to the sting. You don't need to worry as it is readily curable with conservative management and complications are very unlikely.

I suggest you to do the following:-
(1)- Examine the site with a magnifying glass and remove any stinger that left intact.
(2)- Applying ice to the site may provide some mild relief. Apply ice for 20 minutes once every hour as needed.
(3)- You can give antiallergic medicine like avil(chlorphenmeramine) or loratadine (Claritin). These are better than benadryl. You can also go for predenislone in case of severe symptoms.
(4)-Get a tetanus shot if he never had one recently.
(5)- If he has pain you can use simple analgesics like ibuprofen or acetaminophen
Most cases resolve in few days with above mentioned conservative measures, if symptoms persist despite all these consult a general physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
