Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Knees

Question: Hello Dr. This is Amitav, i have some problem on my left Knee, when i wake up in the morning i sat in the floor and i felt lil bit pain and there is some swelling on knee left and right in the knee. from that day its been one week, i feel lil pain when i am siting in the floor. but swelling is still there. when i am standing swelling cant see, in the position of siting in the floor then only i can see swelling. i check with Ortho. he said its initial stage of Arthritis. What can i do know, how can i cure this problem fully....

Brief Answer: Regular excercise and weight contol is the key Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX I have gone through query and I usually advice my dear patient's following suggestion to prevent arthritis- 1.Keep your body weight as per your height 2.Regular excercises 3.Eat healthy food As far as excercises for knee is concern,simple knee bending and straightening can be done while sitting on chair and hold the leg for few second's .This can be done easily anywhere like while watching Television or in office.Try to avoid sitting on floor in cross leg or squat position for long duration.You can have nutrition supplements for joint"s like Glucosamine(nutralite),they also help. If required pain killer on sos basis. Having said that i shall be glad if you can share your knee xray,status of other joint's and blood test report for serum uric acid,RA factor and Blood ugar level in follow up query Take care and wish you Healthy knee's.
