Question: My blood glucose level is normal (82) after eating but whenever its taken after fasting for like 12 hours it shoots up to (110), any reason why?

Hello. Thanks for writing to HCM.

Noted the contents. Well the fasting glucose is a value that shows how much of sugar is released from the liver.

Its a sign showing how efficacious the action of insulin is ovet the liver. If a person has insulin resistance which is a marker of diabetes the fasting glucose is over 100.

Talking about the post meal sugars , its due to high insulin levels post a meal which is due to the body's action to food.

In fact it's a hyper action to food in your case. In short both the values point that you are at high risk for diabetes.

You will need to check your HbA1C and if possible a 75 gm GTT test along with SGOT and SGPT which are liver enzymes. Consider a fasting lipid profile.

These are done to assess your metabolic risk.

Ok, im still in a fasted state right now and my sugar is back down to 85. Why did it come back to normal range?
