Suggest Treatment For Soreness And Pain In The Shoulder Area

Question: In my left shoulder area it is sore, down to my underarm area near the front of my chest. At night, I get a sore area midway between my elbow and the top of my shoulder. My DR said it sounded like a rotator problem. The arm isn't trustworthy enough to carry a gallon of milk without hurting. What do you think? I just had a friend die from lung cancer wHO WAS TOLD SHE Had an inflammation in her rib cage. a full infection of cancer in her lungs and pancreas. she died a month later./Upon a cat scan this was discovered. Should I have a cat scan to find out what it is?
