I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

There can be several causes for burning tongue sensation. Fungal infections of the mouth can be a common cause.
Another common cause are nutritional deficiencies such as deficiency of Vitamin B (B1, B2, B6, B12), zinc, iron or folates.
Some types of medications can also have this sensation as a side effect.
Diabetes or low thyroid function can also be associated with burning mouth.

So the first step is a physical exam to check for signs of infections. Afterwards some blood tests such as blood glucose, liver and kidney function, electrolytes, thyroid function, vitamin B12, iron etc are the next step in order to search a possible cause.
