Brief Answer:
Both associated with untreated sleep apnea ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query and would like you to know that I am here to help. I am sorry to learn about your husband's condition and would like you to better understand the complications of sleep apnea, especially in individuals who do not seek treatment.

The complications are the following:

+Liver abnormalities: Scarring is seen very often with individuals suffering from sleep apnea, and as a result abnormal liver enzymes are noted on blood tests

+Raise blood pressure: Obstructive sleep apnea causes a reduced amount of oxygen reaching the blood, and thus the rest of the body. To compensate, the heart starts pumping more blood (at an increased rate) in an effort to help meet the oxygen requirements. This causes a rise in blood pressure, and with a raised blood pressure comes headaches

+Cardiac risk: With the increased effort put in by the heart, as explained above, comes an increased risk of developing cardiac ailments

+Daytime fatigue: Due to the constant interruption and disturbances caused during the night, the individual experiences extreme fatigue, and tiredness and can often find themselves falling asleep through the day, at work, etc.

and a few other complications.

As explained above ma'am, both the headaches and the sleepiness are associated with the sleep apnea, which in my opinion needs attention and you should consider convincing your husband into considering treatment options, including CPAP.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you ma'am. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
