Suggest Treatment For Severe Lower Intestinal Pain With Diarrhea And Constipation

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Question: Hi, Lately I have been having attacks of severe pain in the lower left intestine that last from a few days to a few weeks. But I have not had accompanying diarrhea, constipation, signs of blood in my stool or excessive gas. My gall bladder was removed 13 yrs ago. I eat little or no meat at all, but the few times I ate meat recently seem to correlate with the onset of attacks of pain. Also have had Hep C - 4 since 1975

Detailed Answer:
hi.

thanks for posting your query at HCM

went through your query and understand your concern.
gall bladder plays a vital role in fat digestion.
most likely, the pain is related to food intolerance ( meat/ fatty meal).

your advised to eat small meals , free of fat and meat.
furthermore, after removal of gall bladder, bile is not stored and its spilling into stomach and small intestine without stimulation. Therefore, gastritis may occur.

OTC proton pump inhibitor ( pantoprazole or esomeprazole) maybe taken once daily before breakfast after discussing with your treating physician.
hopefully, you would feel better in a matter of couple to few days.

if pain persists despite following aforementioned advise , then better to visit gastroenterologist.

hope to answer your concern.
further questions are welcomed.

regards,
Dr Tayyab Malik
