Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg Pain
Question: Hi..I'm writing this letter on behalf of my father. He is facing severe leg pain problem since last 20 years. He feel a very severe pain during his sleep. The pain is as severe as it wake him up immediately.. We have consulted with several doctors and also, he has gone through an operation however there is no result. Few days back I saw a note in internet and there I came to know that it could be something related to "Varicous Vein"...
Could you please help us with this and provide your experts comments on it. Also, I would appreciate if you suggest any good hospital for checkup.

Thank you for posting your query. I have noted your father's symptoms and it is unfortunate to note that he has not improved despite treatment including surgery.
Varicose veins refer to dilated and tortuous veins over legs due to damaged valves in the veins. They can be treated by either laser or surgery. Please consult a vascular surgeon for the same.
Regarding his leg pains, we should also look for additional causes such as nerve disease (peripheral neuropathy), lack of vitamin D or calcium, etc. This can be done by nerve conduction study test and checking vitamin D and calcium levels in blood.
