Hi,thank you for posting your query,

I can understand your concern.

I would like to ask you few questions,so that I can get better idea of what might be the cause
1.)Is your wife suffering from ear discharge/itching/reduced hearing?
2.)Since how long,is she suffering from snoring?
3.)What is the intensity of snoring? Is it sleep disturbing for her?
4.)For how long the episode of cough/cold lasted in the past? When it got totally relieved?
5.)Does she have any nose blockage?
6.)Does she suffer from throat pain/pain while opening the jaw?
7.)Is there any history of self cleaning of ear by ear bud?
8.)Is she over-weight?
9.)Is she taking any sedative type of medicines?

Most common cause of Ear pain might be Inflammation in the ear.Eustachian tube blockage(a tube which connects the middle ear with the nose and is responsible for equalization of the middle ear pressure with the outer atmospheric pressure) is a common cause for ear inflammation. It can occur due to cold/cough episode few days before.

She may find relief by taking Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen with Antacid like Rantac.

Causes of Snoring might be as follows:
Obstructed nasal airways(due to Deviated nasal septum,Enlarged Turbinates,Polyp, etc)
Poor muscle tone in the throat and tongue-This can result from deep sleep, alcohol consumption, or use of some sleeping pills
Bulky throat tissue-Being overweight can cause bulky throat tissue. Patients with large tonsils and adenoids often snore.
Long soft palate and/or uvula.

An Otolaryngologist (ENT specialist)will provide a thorough examination of the nose, mouth, throat, palate, and neck, often using a fiberoptic scope. An examination can reveal if the snoring is caused by nasal allergy, infection, nasal obstruction, or enlargement of tonsils and adenoids. A sleep study in a laboratory or at home may be needed.

Treatment depends on the diagnosis and level(s) of upper airway narrowing .

Some Self-help remedies which might help you are as follows:
Adopt a healthy and athletic lifestyle to develop good muscle tone and lose weight.
Avoid tranquilizers, sleeping pills, and antihistamines before bedtime.
Avoid alcohol for at least four hours and heavy meals or snacks for three hours before retiring.
Establish regular sleeping patterns.
Sleep on your side rather than your back.
Elevate the head of your bed four inches.

Hope this answers your question.I would be happy to answer if you have any follow-up questions.Take care.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for your reply.

Ear pain might be due to inflammation.

She may find relief by taking Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen with Antacid like Rantac.

Overweight might be a cause for snoring in your wife.
Also she should apply the self help measures for snoring as advised in the previous answer.

It would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist(ENT) Doctor,if the ear pain is not improving after around 3 days or if the snoring is disturbing sleep even after following the above measures.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.
