Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhoea With Burps

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: Hi,

I had a very upset stomach last night around 4 hours after dinner. I had chicken and salad. I had a very bad case of diarraea that was bascially all liquid.

I felt better this morning but after lunch today, I have been constantly needing to burp and have the taste of lunch in my throat despite drinking lots of water and afternoon tea which was a XXXXXXX

Ive had loose stools this afternoon and my stomach is feeling quite uneasy and tender.

Could this be a kind of stomach bug? There has been gastro going around my office the last few weeks but this doesnt seem to be as severe as what my co workers have experienced. Eg. No vomitting and not needing to run to the bathroom every 40 mins.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms due to Acute Gastroenteritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Goi g by description of symptoms it is due to Acute Gastroenteritis ( stomach bug ). The burping is likely to be due to indigestion leading on to reflux.

If the criteria are fulfilled then there is no cause for concern

1. Absence of Fever

2. No signs of Dehydration

3. Appetite normal

4. Absence of blood in stools

As you mentioned the frequency is not severe there is no cause for concern.

I would suggest you the following

1. Ensure intake of Electrolyte solution

2. Antacid like Pantoprozole along with gastric motility increasing drug like Domperidone will be helpful.

3. Probiotic will reduce frequency of loose stool

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
