Suggest Treatment For Sea Urchin Sting On The Leg
he is in France and the language barrier is a problem
the hospital said they are too deep for them to remove so they gave him in prescription.
He is soaking his foot in biseptine solution (twice a day). he is getting good results (needles are coming to the surface) but he is concerned that his foot is turning a little purple.
Is the purple coloring typical?
thank you
Needs emergency care from near proximity
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what he has been experiencing. Based on the history you have shared, and purplish discoloration, it needs to be evaluated for local inflammation or signs of local effects of sting. Language can be a temporary barrier but in medicine field for emergency care, no language is a barrier and careful examination and sign language is enough to communicate the pain and other misery and to look for warning signs. He might need systemic antibiotics and painkillers alongwith surgical review for the wound and if thorns or spikes are still inside surgical removal may be needed as it can potentiate effects of local reaction to the sting. Blood screens including Cotting profile and EKG and other baselines may be needed. If these turn out to be negative then local anesthetic or systemic heavy potent painkillers may be needed. He can try dipping in hot water with magnesium sulphate in it. It can give him temporary relief and leave the wound open. Wishing him a quick recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
