Suggest Treatment For Right Lower Back Pain With Abdominal Pain And Bloating

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Dec 2015
Question: I have had diffuse pain on the right lower quadrant of my back. It is somewhat more annoying when I'm sitting and twice has erupted into severe pain and bloating that is somewhat reminiscent of an explicable single episode of pancreatitus I had when I was 30. I'm 60 now. On those two occasions the bloating and pain was terrifically uncomfortable. I took 750 mg of ranitadine and 10 simethicone tabs and it quickly resolved. However it seems that whatever that was is akin to my present low grade discomfort. I had a kidney stone once 10 years ago. I take a low dose of torvistatin and omeprazole daily. I weigh 150 pounds I'm 5'7" and exercise 7 days a week.

Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans-Right lower back pain with occasional colicks/gases / Under Evaluation

My Impression-Recurring Renal Stone, which is causing trouble to you.

Hi,Dear Thanks for your query to HCM.
Reviewed your query facts in context of the right lower back diffuse pain with occasional severe colicks with bloating of abdomen.

-My Assessment of your health complaints-
Though You got relief from Simethicone and ranitidine-in acute discomforting pain in right lower back,it was only due to relief for the Bloated abdomen.
The real cause amongst the confusing past history of renal stone and pancreatitis,is yet to be decided.
In view of the current diffuse pain in the right lower quadrant of back, things indicate and lead more towards the Recurring Renal Stone, which is causing trouble to you.

-More information is awaited from you for better suggestions for your health concerns-
Since how long this right lower quadrant of the back pain issue has cropped up?
When did you have these 2 attacks of sever pain with bloated abdomen, mimicking the old pancreatitic attack you had 30 yrs back?
Give more details of the suffering pain and other facts if you can?
Did you get any burning urine with these 2 attacks or anytime thereafter?
Did you get any hematuria/ blood in urine / or cloudy urine with these 2 attacks or anytime there after ?

-Primary Plan suggested -till I get more information as asked above-
Based on the submitted facts of your query,I would suggest-following care plan for your health issues -
-Take plenty of fluids 3-4 liters per day and be on Alerts with more acute pains.
-Tab Meftal Spas- 1 x2 -3 times per day during this period of 10 days special treatment
-Be on low fatty diet with low protein diet to reduce the pancreatic stress if any.
-Restrict exercises to 3 times a week,as for your age you seem to be quite fit,but is causing more kidney loads.
The above treatment plan suggested, needs to be revived after getting your more information, which I await.

-Investigations- or update these lab test reports if you have with you
Get tested for complete metabolic pannel tests-with liver / kidney / lipid profiles.
Get CT Abdomen study with USG study for KUB-kidney / ureter/ bladder.
These tests are to be done under cover of your Physician / and family doctor.

Hope this reply would help to understand your health problems and would help you to plan further treatment in case you desire immediately.I will leave it to you and your doctor.

Keep Me updated on the more information as asked above. I would love to help you out after getting this information from you.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.
