Suggest Treatment For Recurring Rash On Penile Shaft

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016
Question: I have a reoccurring rash on the shaft of my penis. This is the third time it has happened. It has not happened in the same spots. Does not burn or hurt. The first time it happened I went to the doctor and they screened me for std's. Everything came back negative. Herpes, syphilis, and even cancer. They are uneven spread apart, "burst" when I get in the shower, and scab over by the next day. Any idea what they could be and who should I go see. This is really scarring me.

Brief Answer:
possibility of Herpes should be reconsidered

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is Herpes progenitalis only. It is characterised by grouped vesicles on erythematous base or erosions which usually get crusted within a day or two followed by healing in 7-10days. It is a highly recurring condition. The investigations done for confirmation is IgG and IgM levels for HSV 1 AND HSV 2 . The test most often gets positive after 2 weeks . Sometimes lab errors can be a reason for false negative test. It may be a possibility that the test you got done was not done on appropriate time or from appropriate lab. I would strongly recommend you to get your test repeated from a reputed laboratory set up. I would advise you to upload the photos of the rash and your reports of previous investigations. In any case if you have history of sexual contact with infected partner then the possibility of STD increases many folds. It is important to arrive at a diagnosis so as to start timely intervention.
Kindly revert back with photos and investigation reports.
Take care

have uploaded a before and after picture. I probably should have also said that when they bust they almost heal right away. The last time the "scabs" which are extreamly small, only lasted 2 or 3 days. Usually they are healed by the next day or the following one. I am sexualy active, but with the same girl. The are painless, fluidless, and itchless. Hoping to god this isn't herpes!

I re-uploaded them. Also the first (the worst one, where the bumps are clearly visable) was taken around 11pm the second (the one where they are less visable/almost healed was taken at 7am).

Brief Answer:
allergic contact dermatitis is likely possibility

Detailed Answer:
I have received the images. Thanks for uploading photos.
Now the good news is that it doesn't look like Herpes from the images. It seems to be Allergic contact dermatitis. It may occur due to your inner clothes, talcum, deodrant, perfume, condom usage or anything tried new in contact with the corresponding area.
You should try to avoid the offending allergen else it may recurr .
In such cases, oral antihistaminics like levocetrizine helps.
I hope it helps. Take care.
