Suggest Treatment For Prolonged Menstural Bleeding

Question: Hi, I had severe abdominal pain 2 weeks ago, went to the hospital and they did blood tests - ruled out appendicitis, and sent me home. The pain dulled down in a week time bit by bit.

A week later after going to the hospital my period started. I was very surprised as I did not have any pms symptoms, sensitive breast or abdominal pain.

I usually have 3/4 day periods, but it's still going after 8 days and it's very heavy.

I also have a very sensitive abdominal without the normal "period pains" which is very uncommon for me.

I am on holiday in Indonesia and I will be back in Sydney Thursday morning.

I am rather worried and I would like to know if it is OK to go to the doctor later after I land in Sydney or should I seek immediate medical assistance?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Consult a Gynecologist and get an ultrasound of hte whole abdomen.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/44 - pain 2 weeks - hospital - blood - ruled out appendicitis - sent home and settled in a week bit by bit - period started - no PMS , still going on after 8 days and is heavy - uncommon sensitive abdominal without normal ''period pains'' - holiday in Indonesia and will be back on Thursday morning - wants to know whether to go to Doctor or wait till you land in Sydney...

Since there is something that is not usual for you is happening with symptoms, I would advise you the following:
- Consult a Gynecologist.
- Get Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen to get an idea of what is happening.
This way you can be assured of a probable diagnosis and since you are out of your country, it is best to get the probable diagnosis and proper preliminary treatment.

I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
