Suggest Treatment For Poor Digestion, Loose Bowel And Diarrhea

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Oct 2014
Question:
I have been suffering from poor digestion for over twenty years. I usually have loose bowl and sometimes diarrhoea. The doctors think I have IBS which doesn't really have a cure. Lately I have experimented with natural remedies for Candida and found some relief. Could it be possible that I have overgrowth of candida in my bowls?

Brief Answer:
Candida/parasites/bacteria overgrowth to exclude

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your problems of poor digestion, loose bowel and sometimes diarrhea are suggestive for:
- Candida infection: culture of feces is needed
- intestinal parasitic infections: examination of stool for ova/parasites is advised
- bowel bacteria overgrowth syndrome

These diagnosis should be ruled out first before determining IBS. Run the tests first before starting new medications.

Meanwhile, I advise to:
- apply good hygienic measures
- eat healthy: avoid spicy, chillies,or any other food/drink that would trigger the symptoms
- avoid taking probiotics for the moment until you have the results of the tests in

Hope it helped!

I have done those tests that you suggested but they didn't find anything. I heard that candida is sometimes difficult to detect by a culture of feces. Also, whenever I take antibiotics for unrelated reasons like an ear infections then my symptoms of loose bowl get a little better for about four to six weeks after I finish the course of antibiotics. And as I said before, I found some relief from anti candida natural remedies like apple cider vinegar, caprylic acid tablets, olive leaf extract and acidophuls brobiotic. I also stopped eating anything that has yeast in it and saw more improvements. Could it be that I am allergic to yeast?

Brief Answer:
Continue with diet changes for final diagnosis...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing more of your medical data.

At this point, from what you are reporting, all your problems might be due to:
- bacterial overgrowth: hydrogen breathe test is advised to rule it out
- food intolerance: yeast( most probably)others are gluten, lactose, fructose, casein, etc.

I advise to run the hydrogen breathe test first. I also advise to avoid foods high in gluten, lactose, fructose, casein and any other food that can trigger your symptoms and see if any change would occur. You can do such changes gradually to observe for changes.

Continue with existing diet changes for up to 6 weeks and see what changes.
If your symptoms will subside, then, it might be due to yeast intolerance. Otherwise, should avoid other foods for another 4 to 6 weeks until you find out what is causing your symptoms.

All the best!
Dr.Klerida
